Real Wedding Spotlight: Brigitta & Jason

Recently, one of our weddings was featured on Emmaline Bride, a popular website for creative DIY weddings and so much more! We're thrilled to also see another great vendor featured as well, Isha Foss Events, who was responsible for the gorgeous floral arrangements and decor. This wedding was nothing short of fabulous and Norfolk Botanical Gardens is a stunning venue.

Happy Memorial Day!: Military Weddings

Today, we honor all of our servicemen past, present, and future. Emily Weddings is so blessed to have worked with many military couples and we look forward to working with more! We appreciate all that you do and sacrifice for this country and we would not be the great nation that we are today if it weren't for you! And to the families of military servicemen and women, we recognize all that you sacrifice as well, and we thank you for being the rock and support for these active duty members.

In light of the holiday, we want to share some fun photos of a military wedding. We absolutely love all the details for this wedding and the couples commitment to military tradition.

DIY Friday!!: Photobooths

TGIF! In honor of this wonderful day of the week, we're giving you an incredible DIY project that's sure to be the talk of your wedding. We've all seen photo booths...in the malls, at carnivals, but photo booths have become a fun activity for guests to enjoy while attending your wedding. And they've definitely come a long way from red velvet curtains and about a 3x3 space!

Photo booths have definitely evolved, and now some photographers are offering them as an added service!
What exactly are these "new and improved" photo booths all about? We'll let the pictures do all the talking...

How incredible are these photos!? And how amazing would it be to have these fun photos of your wedding guests? Now, you're probably wondering how do I get an incredible backdrop for a fun photo booth!? Hold on to your seats ladies..you just might be trying out your skills in carpentry (or just ask your wonderful fiancee for help!)

  •     By using either plywood or an actual piece of drywall (which would probably work better), you're going to literally fashion it to look like you plucked it from your own home. Wallpaper, woodwork, however you'd like it to look. I personally love the damask wallpaper used in one of the photos. It makes the backdrop really pop!

  • You can use flea market picture frames to line the walls. I'd suggest placing the frames where you'd like them before cutting holes into your drywall.

  •  Be sure to include support beams for your backdrop!

**After you've successfully built your photo booth backdrop, don't forget the props! Props are a fun way to lighten up anyone's mood while taking pictures in your photo booth. Encourage guests to use them and enjoy the results!

Creative and Memorable Guest Books

En Pointe Photography
The guest book at a wedding is probably up there on the list of important "must haves". What else do you take home with you? Sure there will be memories and hopefully fantastic photos for you to look at years down the road, but what about your guests? Did they have fun? Did Aunt Gina get a chance to congratulate you both amidst the hectic schedule of the night? Having an accessible guest book gives everyone in attendance the opportunity to wish you the best and congratulate the happily married couple! (It also serves as a good record of who actually attended your wedding <---as usually people build their official address book from this list, did you know that?)

While working a wedding this past weekend, I couldn't help but notice the bride and groom's guest book. This particular couple took their engagement photos and had them compiled into a "coffee table" like book. Inside this book contained their absolutely adorable engagement photos along with a generous margin along the sides for their guests to write on. I loved it! Forget the classic guest book, with boring lines and that way overdone feather pen. Get creative and sentimental with your guest book!

Here are a few other ideas for a guest book (if you’re not fond of the "book" idea)

Celebration Plates

1. A Ceramic Platter-guests will sign this decorative platter with a special pen. The platter can later be mounted on your wall or displayed in your china cabinet for years to come!
Daisy Days

2. Matted Photograph of the Couple- This photo is surrounded by a sturdy mat, giving your guests ample room to sign around.

3. (Our favorite!!)  A Wedding Tree- Guests can leave their thumbprint on your wedding tree and sign their names next to it! What a creative and artsy way for your guests to leave a little "imprint" on your special day! = )

**What kind of guest book will you be using at your wedding? Tell us about it!

Custom Bridal Hangers

It's safe to say to no wedding would be complete without a touch of personalization to reflect the Bride and Groom. These details are what set each wedding apart from the next and harness the beauty of the wedding industry. With that being said, a Bride's wedding dress is truly a staple of the day and they spend months if not years trying to find it. Photographers love to feature the dress and it's embellishments in their photographs. Let's be honest, you'll be glad they did as the dress gets packed away and all that remain at hand are those photos.

Recently, I've noticed a new found love for custom bridal hangers and frankly, I love them too! Etsy.com offers a variety of different hangers with options for customizing or simply put "I Do" or "Bride". These wooden hangers serve as great keepsakes and can also be given to your bridesmaids as gifts too!

Photographers will swoon over your custom hanger and your dress will look fabulous hanging from it! What's not to love about this customizable detail?
